Evaluation Day of Careers Program 2019
The Careers Program 2019 came to a fruitful end on the 27th August 2019 with a program evaluation session and immediately followed by our Annual ACO Alumni Networking Event.
During the program evaluation segment, students shared their breakthroughs, achievements and experience gained from the job shadowing this summer. They also expressed their deepest gratitude to their mentors and corporate sponsors. Over 20 mentors and alumni met the newly-graduated ACO 2019 cohorts in the AAA Networking Event, which began with keynote speeches by Ms. Claire Tsui, one of the ACO Board of Directors, Ms. Kelly Ching, 2012 ACO alumni, and Mr. Ethan Chan, 2019 ACO student. Every participant enjoyed the free-flow mingling session where old friends caught up with each other, and new friendships forged.
“I am grateful to have attended the networking event and have seen a lot of positive experiences from ACO students. I truly believe that it’s a reciprocal learning process. I am totally astonished by how motivated and driven these students are: to strive for their passions and contribute to the community. ACO has allowed the students to bloom in their own ways, not only to reassure their visions and dreams but also to equip them with the practical tools to realise their true potential. It’s life-changing as it will ever be,” remarked Ms. Clementine Cheung of Ho and Partners Architects, one of our industry partners.
Careers Program 2020 will be open for enrollment soon, please stay tuned for more information.

The Equal Opportunities Commission Workshop 2019
Our first collaboration with the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) marked a perfect end to our Corporate Workshop Week. Through engaging in human library and group games, students were able to delve into the EOC’s missions and commitments. Most importantly, they learn to be open-minded and embrace diversity in order to build an inclusive society.
One of the students, Wendy Wan, said, “It is hard to choose a single thing that I like most because everything is great. If I really have to choose, it would be the topic on introducing unconscious bias because it is something that can be useful to everyone and it helps us to be less judgmental and be aware of what we’re thinking in a logical way.”
Special thanks to EOC for organizing this insightful and rewarding event!

The UBS Private Bank Hong Kong (UBS) Workshop 2019
The testimonial of ACO student, Katie Mok, best illustrates our first collaboration with UBS Private Bank Hong Kong (UBS). She said, “The term of ‘Private banking’ is a term quite new to me and I didn’t try to explore more about it since I was not really interested in finance earlier. However, after the sharing from the staff who work in different departments of this well-known private bank, and as I learn more about it, I become more enthusiastic about this industry. Private banking is totally different from corporate banking and hence piquing my interest and curiosity because this is a brand new field to me. I enjoyed the mentoring part a lot.”
Thanks a bunch to UBS for organizing this corporate workshop for ACO. Volunteers shared their individual career paths and knowledge of the private banking industry through group discussions and networking sessions. The exposure have definitely broadened our students’ horizons.

“The workshop went beyond my expectation as I didn't expect to be able to visit so many departments in a day, and I really enjoyed the chance to gain insights into each department. The hospital was very generous to let us visit the departments and allowed us to travel from buildings to buildings” Jethro Tse, an ACO student mentioned.
Thank you HKSH again for giving our students a unique and educational experience.

Shannon Chau (2018 cohort) served as one of the panelists alongside with the current summer students of A&O. They shared about their journeys to university, as well as their unforgettable and rewarding experiences at A&O. Jerry Ma, one of the students, said, “I like the chance to hear what motivates everyone at the firm to continue practicing law, and how the motivation behind each of them actually applies outside of work.”
